2023 NAIDOC Week events

In recognition of NAIDOC Week (2-9 July), Council will host a number of events and movie screenings throughout the region this week.
Events will begin with a Welcome to Country, performance and smoking ceremony, flag raising and light refreshments at Kandos Museum (22 Buchanan Street, Kandos) on Thursday, 6 July from 10.30am-12.30pm.
Later that day there will be a screening of The Last Daughter at the Mudgee Arts Precinct Cultural Workshops from 6pm with tea and coffee provided.
The film will be screened again the following day (Friday, 7 July), from 6pm at NEWCO (28 Angus Avenue, Kandos with tea and coffee provided.
On Saturday, 8 July, Vice President of the Indigenous Plants for Health Association, Pat Collins will host an indigenous plants workshop at Wirimbili-yahni Wiradjuri walan (28 Angus Ave, Kandos). Workshop starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm.
NAIDOC Week 2023, celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme is ‘For our Elders’.
Across every generation, our Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place in our communities and families.
