The service and contributions of our local senior citizens will be celebrated over the next two weeks as part of the NSW Seniors Festival.

Across the state the festival themed ‘Time to shine’ will present hundreds of free and discounted activities, workshops, and performances for seniors throughout the state.

Locally, Council is supporting a wide range of events in Mudgee, Gulgong, Rylstone and Kandos including festival highlight, Elvis Impersonator - Terry Leonard, performing at an afternoon tea and Seniors Lunch at Club Mudgee, on 6 and 10 March respectively.

The week-long festival also includes luncheons in Mudgee, Gulgong, Rylstone and Kandos, as well as an art and craft, photography, poetry and prose exhibition, opening at Mudgee Arts Precinct on 6 March and closing 16 March.

Other exciting events include the Senior Citizen of the Year awards, the Zig Zag Railway bus trip, Premier’s Gala Concert (livestream), history talks, writing workshops, technology sessions, movie screenings, and much more.

“This is a great way to celebrate the achievements of our seniors and the great contributions they make to the community,” Mayor of Mid-Western Regional Council, Des Kennedy said.

“The program is jam-packed this year with many events on offer throughout the week.”

With a variety of experiences on offer, the festival aims to inspire seniors to be active, socialise, and try something new, all while connecting with their community.

Local events will run from Monday, 3 March to Monday, 16 March.

The NSW Seniors Festival is presented by Council in conjunction with the NSW Government.
