Australia Day Nominees Announced

The following residents and organisations have been nominated for the 2025 Australia Day Awards:

Citizen of the Year: Sam Paine, Adam Davis and Carol Jones.

Young Citizen of the Year: Charlie Johanson and Grace Pearce.

Community Event of the Year: Can Cruise 2024, Mudgee Lions Eye Health programme for Children, Rylstone Rodeo Bull-A-Rama, Mudgee Showground Carols and Mudgee and District Toy Run Committee.

Glen Johnston Memorial Award – Arts and Music: Darsharni Martins and Tyrolin Puxty.

Sports Person of the Year Award: St Matthews Mudgee 9/10 Boys Netball Team, Arya South, William Peake, Hayley Forster, Chelsea Mottershead and Spencer Doyle.

Volunteer Services Award: Mudgee Playgroup Committee, Heather Rushton, Jason Turner and Lorraine Stewart.

Wall of Reflections: David Bruce Lester.

Awards will be presented at the region’s Australia Day celebration at Anzac Memorial Park, Gulgong, Sunday, 26 January from 9am.

A free barbecue, coffee and face painting will be on offer.
