Election Of Mayor And Deputy Mayor

Councillor Des Kennedy has been re-elected uncontested as Mayor of the Mid-Western Region for his fourth term at an Ordinary Council Meeting on Wednesday 9 October.
Councillor Alex Karavas has been elected as Deputy Mayor for the first time after two terms on Council.
Councillors must elect a Mayor and Deputy Mayor from among their numbers every two years.
Mayor Des Kennedy said he was honoured to be re-elected for a 14th year as mayor of the region.
“I recognised the significance of this role and the responsibility to deliver for our community,” Cr Kennedy said.
“I am and will continue to be committed to ensuring Council is run as efficiently as possible with the best outcomes and services for our community. “We know this is a time of major growth for our community and we continue to manage this while maintaining a high level of service for residents.
“I look forward to working with the new and returning Councillors.”
Councilor Katie Dicker was elected to the Audit Risk and Improvement Committee.
Outgoing Councillors Paul Cavalier (first elected 2012-2024), Sam Paine (first elected 2016-2024) and Phil Stoddart (first elected 2021-2024) were also recognised for their service to the community.
The next Ordinary Meeting of Council will be held on 16 October.
