Have your say on local planning policy

Council is working towards creating a new Development Control Plan (DCP) to guide assessment of development applications and is calling on the community to provide their input.
A DCP is a planning document used by councils in NSW to guide the assessment of Development Applications by providing planning and design guidelines for new developments, supporting the goals and objectives of the Mid-Western Regional Local Environmental Plan 2012.
Council’s current DCP was drafted and adopted over 10 years ago, and since that time the environment in which it operates is significantly different to that which exists now.
Many of the provisions are outdated, limited in scope, and do not accommodate for the types of development and growth now, or likely to be experienced, in the not-too-distant future. To keep abreast of these changes and to keep the document relevant, Council has decided to undertake a comprehensive review of the DCP.
Council’s General Manager, Brad Cam said the review is also being undertaken to help deliver the community’s vision for the future – where we are, where we want to be and how we will get there, including the creation of vibrant towns and villages.
“All residents are encouraged to provide their input, but particularly those who interact and engage with the DCP on a regular basis like builders and developers, architects and draftspersons, building certifiers, engineers and real estate agents,” Mr Cam said.
Residents can provide feedback online via a short survey on Council’s website midwestern.nsw.gov.au from next Monday, 10 February. Submissions can be made online until Wednesday, 12 March.
Residents can also provide their feedback in-person at a series of face-to-face sessions at:
