This weekend, Glen Willow Regional Sporting Complex in Mudgee will be filled with excitement as it hosts the annual NSW Junior Rugby Under 11’s State Gala. The event, scheduled for Saturday 20 July, and Sunday 21 July, promises an exciting showcase of Junior Rugby Union action, and a vibrant atmosphere.

Mayor Des Kennedy expressed his enthusiasm about the event, which has been secured in Mudgee for three years.

“We look forward to welcoming participants, supporters, and spectators to experience the excitement of Junior Rugby in the Mudgee Region. The sport continues to have fantastic participation rates, and the Western region is a popular hub for the game,” said Mayor Kennedy.

The event is expected to attract approximately 1,600 visitors from outside the region to Mudgee for a 2-night stay. This includes 620 participants comprising competitors, team officials, and event staff. Over the weekend, 30 teams will compete, showcasing the best of junior rugby talent.

The two-day gala is anticipated to inject $1.3m to the local economy, and showcase Mudgee as a premier destination for sporting events.
