Planning for the future

The Mid-Western Regional Draft Comprehensive Land Use Strategy provides clear direction and guidance for future change in the area for the next 15 to 20 years.

To date the majority of housing growth has occurred in Mudgee however other towns in the region have also been impacted in recent years by shifts in the housing market.

Council in conjunction with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DP&E) identified the need to prepare an Urban Release Strategy for the towns of Mudgee and Gulgong to guide decision making around the timing, location and type of future residential development.

Mid-Western Regional Council is committed to building a strong, resilient and sustainable industrial sector in the region, which has led to Council undertaking the Employment (Industrial) Lands Strategy Project(the Strategy).

The study is a comprehensive review of retail and commercial requirements for Council, building on the outcomes of the Mudgee Retail Study undertaken in 2000.
