Council has an obligation to enforce certain NSW Road Rules to ensure the safety of local residents. Find out more via Transport for NSW.

What to do if you have received a fine

All parking fines issued by Council are administered by Revenue NSW.

A parking fine cannot be withdrawn by Council once it has been issued or commenced. Please get in touch directly with Revenue NSW to discuss issues or questions relating to fines.

Paying the fine

Please note: Council cannot accept any fine or penalty infringement notice payments. 

You must make payment via Revenue NSW within 21 days of receipt of the fine.

Requesting a review

You can request a review of the fine if:

  • You believe there has been a mistake in issuing the fine
  • There are other reasons that contributed to the offence

To request a review of your fine visit myPenalty. You will need to enter the fine or infringement notice number and the date of the offence, as well as proof of identification. Find out more via Revenue NSW

Contesting the matter in court

f you would like to dispute a fine, it is your right to choose to have the matter heard in court. 

If you ask for a review via Revenue NSW and include a request to go to court, a review will be conducted and your matter will only be listed if the outcome is unsuccessful.

Frequently asked questions

What if someone else was responsible for the fine?

If you’ve received a fine but weren't responsible for the offence, you can transfer the fine to the person who was at fault. You may have not been driving the vehicle when the offence happened, or you sold the vehicle before the date of the offence.

You can nominate the responsible person online using myPenalty . 

If you are responsible for an offence but are not the person named on the fine, you can nominate yourself by contacting Revenue NSW.

What if I can't afford the fine?

If you are experiencing financial hardship and can't afford to pay in full by the due date you may be able to set up a payment plan to pay in instalments. Contact Revenue NSW before the penalty reminder due date to arrange a payment plan.

What happens if I don't pay my fine?

If you don’t pay a fine authorised by Revenue NSW, action will be taken to recover the debt including additional charges and enforcement action.
