FAQs

Frequently asked questions and common issues relating to sewage services in the Mid-Western Regional Council area.

How long will it take to connect to Council sewer mains?

  • If there is a sewer junction provided for your block already you may use your own plumber to connect to this sewer junction
  • If you need Council to prepare a new sewer junction, the process may take up to three weeks
  • If Council needs to extend the sewer main to service your block the time may be extended as parts required must be ordered in advance before work can commence
  • Work must be paid for before Council can begin

I have sewage surcharging from the grated drain next to my house-what do I do?

Council is only responsible for clearing the sewer line up to and including the boundary trap.

Contact Council and report the issue, or submit a works request online.

In this situation Council water and wastewater staff will check the boundary trap to ensure that it is clear. If it is and sewerage is still surcharging from the grated drain next to your house, a licensed plumber will need to be called.
